Superyacht Deck Crew Training

Want a career in the Superyacht Industry then lets us help you gain the right qualifications required .
We can get you on the career ladder as a deckhand/tender driver.
We offer help and advice and save you money.
First of all you will need your Basic STCW 95 -2010 this consists of the following.

STCW 95 Basic Safety Training is a compulsory qualification for crew on superyachts and all vessels over 24 metres.
STCW 95 Elementary First Aid
STCW 95 Personal Survival Techniques
STCW 95 Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
STCW 95 Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting

The second part is a 14 day package of practical and theory courses and more importantly your Helm Certificates. One of the jobs required from a deckhand is to drive the Yacht's tenders these can be up to 40 feet in length. We offer you a large variety of craft to train on, giving you the best experience required to get that job.

"A lot of schools offer the same thing!" is a frequent comment - which is correct. However, most schools just offer a basic powerboat level 2 course in a small rib and then point you in the direction of a competent crew course on a sailing boat or a Yachtmaster course, again on a sailing boat. They don't go on to teach you how to handle a variety of craft with a variety of propulsion systems. Most Superyachts use single and twin engine propulsion systems these are either outboard or outdrive.

This what you get on our course
RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course
RYA Radar Course
RYA/MCA VHF SRC GMDSS
RYA Diesel Engine Course
RYA PWC Certificate of Proficiency ideal if working on a Yacht with PWC /Jet skis on board

RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course on a 7 metre rib

There are a lot of training centres offering careers in the Superyacht Industry and they will sell you a Sailing course up to Yachtmaster Ocean you then end up as a deck hand on a Motor Yacht and have just spent in excess of £16k, and after a time forget all you learnt unless you use these skills on a regular basis, also if you want to Skipper a Motor Yacht then you will need a conversion exam and then go on to take further MCA qualifications so costing you more money .Why not get the miles and experience while already working then you will have all the necessary skills to go on to take your Yachtmaster Power course and then the MCA Master 200 Officer of the Watch 500. The first big step to that all important Captains job.

Also look around the Industry and you will see that very few Superyachts are sail. If you dream of the romance of travelling under sail then we are not the school for you.

What we can do is give you advice on Dock walking, preparing a CV and how to get that job. We can put you in touch with crew agencies and give you the right qualifications to get that job. You will need to be a clean, smart a team player and willing to work very hard helping out in general duties from washing down the Superyacht to helping clean the interior and making beds as well as assisting in serving food.

Have a look at the industries leading forum.
