Health and Safety Policy Statement

There is a strict no smoking policy on the boats and during refuelling, lifejackets will be worn on the boats at all times, no alcohol to be consumed during the course. Please ask a member of staff for a copy of our health and safety document. Enjoy your course and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Booking Terms

With on-line courses payment is to be made in full at the time of booking. You must register online for the course within the first six months of payment. If no work has been submitted in that time, you will be removed from the course.

If you wish to continue, a further £30 reregistration fee will be required. However, we will remind you on a regular basis to submit your answers. We can send you any additional information that you may require if you encounter any problems . In most cases this is not needed as the courses are very easy to follow in the modular format in which they are presented. Tim is also on hand to answer any questions and offer help during the course via email or phone.

With all other courses a 10% deposit is required to confirm your Course/Charter and the balance can be paid at the end of your course via cheque or PayPal or cash.
The courses are not transferable.

Refunds Terms

A refund will be given if Griffin Marine Services has to cancel your Course/Charter if due to inclement weather or mechanical failure this applies to course fees or charter fees only.
If you the client have to cancel the course the deposit is non refundable alternative dates will be offered to accommodate your training needs.

Refund Terms for On-Line Courses

Refunds will only be given if we have not sent off your course pack

You will have 12 months to complete your course, extensions will only be given due to exceptional circumstances.

Vouchers

Course vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase and are non transferable.

Complaints

At Griffin Marine Services we want you to have a enjoyable learning experience and pride ourselves on giving quality training. However, if during any course you have cause for concern or if you feel the course has not lived up to your expectations with respect to content or delivery, please bring this to the attention of your Instructor in the first instance. If the matter cannot be resolved please speak to the Principal, Tim Griffin.
Your learning needs are our number one priority and we will do everything in our power to deliver a first class course to you.

RYA Child Protection Policy

As defined in the Children Act 1989, for the purposes of this policy anyone under the age of 18 should be considered as a child. The policy also applies to vulnerable adults.

It is the policy of the RYA to safeguard children and young people taking part in boating from physical, sexual or emotional harm. The RYA will take all reasonable steps to ensure that, through appropriate procedures and training, children participating in RYA activities do so in a safe environment. We recognise that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount and that all children, whatever their age, gender, disability, culture, ethnic origin, colour, religion or belief, social status or sexual identity, have a right to protection from abuse.

The RYA actively seeks to:

Create a safe and welcoming environment, both on and off the water, where children can have fun and develop their skills and confidence.
Support and encourage recognised training centres, affiliated clubs and class associations to implement similar policies.
Recognise that safeguarding children is the responsibility of everyone, not just those who work with children.
Ensure that RYA-organised training and events are run to the highest possible safety standards.
Be prepared to review its ways of working to incorporate best practice.

We will:

Treat all children with respect and celebrate their achievements.
Carefully recruit and select all employees, contractors and volunteers.
Respond swiftly and appropriately to all complaints and concerns about poor practice or suspected or actual child abuse.

This policy relates to all employees, contractors and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults in the course of their RYA duties. It will be kept under periodic review.
