The RYA have recognised that there is a gap in the training between powerboat level 2 and the Advanced syllabus. This new award is the Intermediate, consisting of coastal cruising by day, using GPS and traditional navigation methods at high speed, plus the importance of the role of skipper. The whole idea is we plan a passage and then we do it. Held over two days, course content involves tips and tricks for navigating at speed, charts, chart symbols, GPS, day shapes, passage plans, CG66, weather, tides, man-overboard, how to handle emergencies, boat handling, rules of the road, and more. This is a good course for developing skills for those of you wishing to take short coastal passages by day. Students must have Powerboat level 2 with a coastal endorsement. VHF / first aid recommended.

For those of you who wish to cruise the inland waterways of Europe this is a bolt on course to the ICC and consists of a theory exam, you will need to purchase The RYA Book of EuroRegs for Inland Waterways, which you must have onboard while cruising these waterways.
Great for blowing away the winter cobwebs, any aspect can be covered from navigation, to boat handling. You decide the course content.
What better way of learning than on your own boat? The cost of the tuition can be divided by three of you, as you are only paying for the instructor. The syllabus is exactly the same as RYA Powerboat Level 2, Intermediate or the Advanced syllabus. Minimum safety equipment required. The vessel is insured by the owner for loss, damage and legal liability to third parties, The owner remains the skipper and legally responsible for the safe management of the vessel at all times even when under instruction. Own boat tuition can be taken anywhere in Hampshire, Southampton, Hamble, Portsmouth, Poole, Lymington and the Isle of Wight. For overseas training the cost of flights, accommodation and transfers will be added.
A very intensive course with personal coaching for the above levels. This is a popular option for some, as you have the instructor's undivided attention, and can really cover a lot of ground over the two days. Some schools will put you on a waiting list until they have enough students to fill a course, this can be very frustrating for you the student. Our aim is to get people out on the water enjoying this great pastime of ours. That's why we run courses seven days a week throughout the year.
An ideal course for those of you who want to refine certain aspects of your boat handling either on your boat or ours. We can cover any subject chosen by you.
This is one of our most popular courses, held over 5 hours (approx): three hours of theory on Rules of the Road, Lights, Navigation, Passage Planning and Chart Work, then the practical out in the Solent using our passage plan to a destination decided by the instructor. Great fun and fast. The hours logged can go towards your Day Skipper or higher exams.
