Instructor Courses

We offer the Following Instructor Courses. Making us one of the South Coasts Premier Teaching and Training Establishments.
We will also come to Clubs and other Training Centres. So far we have run courses in Southampton, Poole, Portsmouth, Hamble , Lymington and Spain , Portugal , The Canary Islands and Dubai.

Pre Entry RYA Powerboat Instructor Assessment £65 per person
From April 2008 a Practical and theory assessment will take place prior to you attending your Powerboat Level 2 Instructors course. The assesment can be taken on the mainland at the River Hamble near Southampton, Hampshire. It takes about half a day and you will be assessed on your driving skills and theory knowledge , if there are any weak areas the Trainer can help you in either suggesting additional training or showing you where you can improve on your techniques. A short theory paper will be given this is taken from the RYA Powerboat syllabus all levels you will be expected to pass with a high score. This bring's the RYA Powerboat Scheme in line with the RYA Dinghy Scheme and has shown in trials conducted by the RYA that a higher percentage of students pass first time. Successful candidates can then go on to attend the three day instructor's course and £25 is deducted from the Instructors course fee.

RYA Powerboat Instructor 3 day Course £275 per person (minimum of 2 required) A current in date First Aid Certificate and VHF license Eligibility: Candidates should have logged at least 5 seasons of powerboating preferably in a range of boat types and sizes. For those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal full time occupation this period is reduced to one season. We expect you to be a good powerboat driver and have a level of navigation skills suitable for the course. You will need to be a good communicator, have a relaxed attitude and a sense of humour. And above all a willingness to learn and develop your existing skills. If you hold the RYA Safety Boat Award this will allow you to teach this in addition to the level 2 course. Successful candidates are invited back to teach a Powerboat Level 2 course with pay (£80 per day) to gain some practical experience and recoup some of the course fees.

RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor 2 day Course £290 per person (minimum of 2 required) A current in date First Aid Certificate and VHF License
This is an endorsement to your Powerboat Instructors and will allow you to teach the RYA Intermediate Award and the RYA Advanced Powerboat Award. We expect you to hold the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore theory certificate or be able to navigate to this level. You will be very good powerboat driver and have at least 1 season’s experience of holding the Advanced Powerboat Award and 1 season’s experience of teaching the powerboat level 2 course. As from the 1st of April 2011 all Instructor Candidates will need to have Their Advanced Powerboat Course Completion Certificate Commercially Endorsed.

RYA Cruising Instructor (Power) £510 per person
A two day course preparing you to teach the RYA Helmsman and Dayskipper courses.
Pre requisites: Yachtmaster offshore Power with commercial endorsement. Candidates who pass this course are then able to teach the above courses at recognised RYA training centres who offer the Motor Cruising scheme.

RYA PWC 3 Day Instructors Course £360
A minimum of two years experience is required. Starting from day one you will be learning teaching techniques and styles, and course delivery from the syllabus . You will be asked to deliver a theory session from the syllabus on day two and three . Your teaching and practical driving skills and knowledge will be assessed by an independent moderator on day 3. Successful Candidates will be able to teach the RYA PWC Proficiency Course at RYA Training Centres.

RYA Powerboat Instructors Conversion £160
If you are an existing Powerboat Instructor and hold the RYA PWC Certificate of Proficiency then you can attend a one day conversion course . You will be asked to demonstrate both practical and theory sessions from the syllabus.

RLSS UK Inshore Rescue Boat Trainer Assessors Course held over 3 days £310.
